- Make sure you have downloaded and installed the most recently available Java version from one of the above links. Uninstall older Java versions you may have first before reinstalling.
- Make sure Java is enabled in your browser.
- Make sure you are using either Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher or Firefox
- You may have a slow internet connection, you may have to wait a bit for the Java Applet (the little program which runs in your browser) to get downloaded
- You may have an old page in your browser or Java cache. Try closing all your browser windows, going to back to the chat web page, and pressing refresh
- Your Java version may be too old. Windows users can check this by going to Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs and seeing which Java version you have installed. You need at least version 1.4.2
- Make sure you only have Java installed once! If you don't, uninstall the older versions.
- Your version of Java is 1.4.2 but it's still not working: Try uninstalling Java, and reinstalling it. This often solves corrupt Java installations
- Make sure you are using either Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari. Problems have been reported with AOL and BT browsers. We recommend using Firefox
